Avantium NV is a pioneering commercial-stage company, which engages in renewable and circular polymer materials. It develops and commercializes innovative technologies for the production of materials based on sustainable carbon feedstocks, i.e. carbon from biomass or carbon from the air (CO2). It operates through the following segments: R&D Solutions Services, R&D Solutions Systems, Renewable Chemistry Development, and Renewable Polymers. The R&D Solutions segment provides advanced catalysis research and development services, systems, and testing to global customers. The Renewable Chemistry Development segment develops PlantMEG, a plant-based alternative for fossil-based mono-ethylene glycol. The Renewable Polymers segment focuses on the commercialization of YXY plants-to-plastics technology. The company was founded in February 2000 and is headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
